Question about school closings?
If a high school is in danger of closing what happens to the teachers and students?

Re: Question about school closings?
It depends...NYC right?
Schools have different ways of closing:
Lane is being phased out: meaning they are not taking new freshman. The existing students stay for the time being. Most of the staff stays for a while, the rest find jobs along the way.
Far Rock was restructured. They became 4 smaller schools. Teachers reapplied for positions, but they were only allowed to keep a certain percentage of staff. Other teachers had to find new positions. Students could apply at one of the new schools or go somewhere else.
Or...the building could be closed/sold. In which case...sayanara suckers. Everyone loses
We got an F so we are seriously in danger.

Lane is closing? Such a shame that it became such a dump...It used to be thriving in the 50's 60s

We got an F for the second year in a row. We are in restructuring. Our principal jumped ship on us and is now principal of a nice small school. We now have an "executive" principal who is supposed to turn things around or else.....
