bartenders or drink people
can you give me some good mixed drinks for my new years party. i really have no idea what kind of liquor to buy for this party. i'm lost. we're also going to have an ice luge so whats a good liquor for shots? thanks.

If you want something straight out of the bottle, I like the flavoured vodkas (or non-flavoured, depending on your crowd). The flavoured Stoli's are quite nice.
If you have a more mellow crowd though, maybe consider one of the cordials. Godiva has some nice varieties, and the white chocolate is not too filling.
If you do not want to be stuck "behind the bar" all night, or want something you can pre-mix, then sangria is usually a big hit. Also you can make pitchers of mixed drinks, like Alabama Slammers. You can also pre-mix Martini's but they do not always keep as well.
When you go out, what kind of drinks does everyone like? Maybe that can give a hint as to what would be a hit...

oooh so alabama slammers can be kept in the fridge? thats the kind of stuff i'm looking for. the drinks i can premix and keep in the fridge for refills. do cosmos stay? how bout pina colada?

I hate being stuck behind the bar - I usually make a HUGE punch bowl of white sangria and everyone loves it .......
For some reason, the red doesn't go as quickly .......

A great 'holiday' shot is a peppermint patty
you take a bottle of hersheys syrup, squirt a little bit in your mouth and then do a shot of Rumplemintz.
its chocolate/minty heaven!
As for premade drinks to have on hand - how about margaritas? mudslides? you can definitely do cosmos also.
When we've had parties - we put out all the mixers and bottles, bucket of ice, limes, lemons, orange twist etc. and let people fend for themselves so we're not tied up serving drinks all the time. Can get a little messy, but helps keep you free
for the ice luge shots, kahlua is a nice one, orange vodka, or SoCo and lime

Buy the pre-made drink mixers from the store. All you have to do is add alcohol, directions are on the back of the bottoms. Put them in pitchers in the fridge.
