Ever been to Italy?

DH and I are thinking of doing an Italy trip next year some time. We were wondering if anyone has gone and could recommend places to stay...
Also, if you have done a mederterian cruise and could make suggestions that would be great too.

Re: Ever been to Italy?

I went to Italy on a tour two years ago... I would recommend going to Florence and Venice... they were both great cities. I don't remember where we stayed since we were on the tour and they just took us from place to place.

If you go to Rome, definitely the Vatican and the sistine chapel...

Ohh... and we stopped off in Pisa to see the leaning tower, I think that was my favorite!

Re: Ever been to Italy?

I went a little over 4 years ago...and....we are going again tomorrow!!! My DH has never been and I can't wait to show him everything. We're going to Lake Como, Cinque Terre, Florence, Tuscany and Rome. I'd be happy to give you a review when I get back - just fm me so I don't forget while I'm away.

My last trip was to Rome, Siena, Florence, and Venice. That trip my favorites were Siena and Florence.

Re: Ever been to Italy?

DH & I went on our own, and recommend doing the same to all of our friends.

We got to see SO much of Italy in two short weeks, and wouldn't have done it any other way.

Tuscany (Montelpulciano) -- took day trips to Florence, Siena, and Pisa from there.

Lake Region (Cernobbio) -- right next to Lake Como & 10 minute ride to Laguna, Switzerland which is worth seeing.

Venice -- We spent one day there which was more than enough for us, but we're happy we saw it.

Cinque Terre -- (MUST SEE) -- Hotel Porta Roca highly recommended -- This is a vacation from your vacation and absoultely breathtaking. If I had to choose two places in Italy to return to, it would be tuscany and cinque terre.

Rome -- One day there, which was fine by me.

Paris -- One night.

I'll send my itinerary and recommended places once you decide on where you'd like to go (northern or southern.) Enjoy -- you'll love it! I've also heard the Almafi Coast is beautiful but that's a seperate trip. Have fun!
