when you are sick, who do you see?
i have a horrible sore throat and ear ache. i am not sure if this is b/c of my acid reflux or if i am truly sick. so which doc do i see? the ob/gyn or my gp? help!!! i am 6w3d.

My GP office's always told me they didn't expect to see me back till 6 weeks post partum. So I would say OB. But your best bet is to call who you are more comfortable with first and find out who will see you.
Have you meet your OB yet?

yes, she is also my gyn too! i will call her office in the morning to see whats going on. ugh i hate being sick!

Right after I found out I was pg. I got sooooo sick... and of course I didnt think my reg DR would be able to do anything for me (medicine wise) so I blew it off and did the chicken soup thing...NOTHING worked...
Finally..I called my OB and he said.... "go to the DR they know what kinda of prescription meds they can give you, and if you want call me after they prescribe and Ill give you the ok"
Sure enough... I was so sick...on the verge of pneumonia...and the DR said had I let it go..I wouldve had to be hospitalized...
The gave me a Z-pack and I was on my way!!!
So basically if your sick...go to your reg DR. I would just call your OB before filling any prescriptions...
Also....the way the DR explained it to me... There are 3 different types of meds... A B and X... A and B category ones are ok...they cant prescribe anyting in the X category to a preg. person... AKA there is med to help you!

I would go to my regular dr. The regular dr would check any meds with my ob. If notm I would call my ob, and have them approve it. O would bring up the ilness as an fyi at my regular ob appt. That's how my drs worked.

i ended up going to the regualr doctor, who told me that it is very common for pregnant women to have a post nasal drip. So that, coupled with my reflux disease, is why i have been losing my voice and feeling crappy!!! oh 9 months of this !!!!!!!!!!!!
