Well, we knew it was imminent...Good riddance....
Monday, December 29, 2008 Reports say Mangini out as Jets' head coach ESPN.com news services
Eric Mangini is out as head coach of the New York Jets, 1050 ESPN Radio and various other New York media outlets are reporting.
Mangini and the Jets missed out on the playoffs after losing to Miami on Sunday. The Jets lost four of their last five games to finish 9-7.
Jets owner Woody Johnson and general manager Mike Tannenbaum will appear at a 10 a.m. ET news conference. Mangini is not expected to attend.
Mangini, 37, was 23-26 in three seasons with the Jets, including 0-1 in the playoffs.
This season, the Jets acquired Brett Favre before the season started and ran off to an 8-3 start. But losses to Denver, at San Francisco, at Seattle and Sunday to the Dolphins left New York on the outside of the playoffs for the second straight season.

I assume that Bill Cower will be the head coach - THAT would be awesome.
I think Favre retires tomorrow - he holds his press conferences on Tuesdays so that is coming tomorrow. He needs to go - the Jets need to look to the future and honestly, Brett is NOT it. He got his azz handed to him yesterday - on the second to last play of the game he got hit and I felt it in the stands LOL.
I would love to have Cassell but you KNOOOOOOOOW Belichek is too much of an arse and too arrogant to let him go.

I would say that is exactly why he would let him go. Everyone said he would be nothing without Brady. He proved that wrong. He will want to stroke his ego a bit more by bringing up another QB that has star potential. I don;t see Cassel remaining in Bradys shadow once he comes back. YOu have a QB that shows great potential. That would be a waste of his talent but only time shall tell.

Good point - I can't ever assume anything when it comes to Belichek LOL.
I do like Cassell - think he definitely deserves a chance. I have to admit - I got a little excited when I saw Clemmon's on the sidelines warming up LOL!

Exactly why tease him and let him warm up. They should have thrown him in. By the end of the game people a few seats over had paper bags on their heads. Both of them said funyn stuff. 40 years of losing and please stop losing for the psl's. Next year will be the last season that we go due to those PSL's. Hopefulyl we go out with a bang.
