My unexpected birth story
Christmas Eve I went in to my OBs for my 40 week check-up hoping to hear I was maybe a little more dialated, I had only been 1cm the previous week and hadn't really felt any action. The Dr. examined me and I was still only 1 CM  but he mentioned my BP was elevated, it had been normal for my entire PG, so he wanted me to have the nurse check it again before I left. He also said the baby seemed to be large and he wanted me to have another sono to check size. So I go have the sono and they say he is measuring at 10lbs 11oz  then they check my BP again and it's even higher - which is really suprising seeing as they had just told me I had a nearly 11 lb baby in there that wasn't done growing yet!)
...so my Dr. came back and told me he didn't like my #'s and he was sending me to the hospital to be monitored, but not to worry I'd surely be home this afternoon and if we don't deliver by the 29th he'd schedule a c-section for 12/31. This is when I started crying, I'm pretty sure it was mostly hormonal, but I think I was also shocked by the c-section part, no one had ever mentioned that before, it was really something I never even considered would happen. So we go over to L&D and my BP was going higher and then they found protein in my urine, but the DR said it was a trace amount so we still thought we would be going home that afternoon.
I was supposed to finish up some Christmas shopping with my sister that afternoon, so I asked DH to call her to let her know what was going on and I'd be late... by the time he got back (maybe 10 minutes!?!) my Dr. had decided she didn't like my BP and with the size of the baby she didn't want to give him a chance to get even bigger, so they were going to take him right them. He wasn't fully engaged and I was only 1cm so they said if they induced me it would most likely turn into a c-section anyway since my body just wasn't ready to deliver yet. She was also concerned since I had never had a child before that he wouldn't fit through my pelvis - she said I had an untested pelvis which for some reason I found really funny.
DH walked in the room and they threw some scrubs at him and said get dressed, she's havng a c-section. It all happened so quickly that neither one of us had time to process what was going on. My Dr's appt was at 10 AM, I was at L&D by 12:30 and Wil was born at 2:09. I had a mini breakdown and started crying in the OR when I was getting the epidural, I think I was just overwhelmed by everything going on. DH wasn't allowed in until I was fully prepped; so I was there alone and the anesthisiologist snapped at me for not explaining where I was feeling pain properly, then when I started crying I was shaking and got yelled at again for moving. I understand she was putting somethign in my spine, but give me a freaking break I was a little scared, hormonal and confused at that moment. After that was all done they let DH in and the rest is kinda fuzzy, I remember hearing "it's a boy!" and looking at DH, his eyes just lit up, he was so happy :) They took him into a warming room and let DH go in there, then about 10 minutes later (it seemed like forever!) DH brought him out to me, then we were both crying :) He was so beautiful and so soft, he was just amazing.
He was 8lbs 11 ozs (2 lbs less than the sono estimated ) and 19 inches. We named him Wilson Andrew; DH and I hadn't agreed on a name yet but when we met him that was the one thatfit 
We were finally able to call our families around 4PM and let them know Wilson had arrived, I think hey were alittle shocked to hear it! ...especially my sister who just thought shopping was going to be post-poned 
Wil is a wonderful baby, we feel so blessed to have him, I think I could spend every waking moment just staring at him.

oops I forgot to add the stats!
He was 8lbs 11oz and 19 inches long. I can't believe they were off by 2 lbs!

NINA!! Congrats to you and your hubby on the birth of beautifully handsome Wilson! Crazy birth story! I would've been just as scared as you. But in the end, all turned out great and now you have your gorgeous little man with you. Treasure every moment because as soon as the baby is born, time goes at warp speed.
