LI teacher job fairs
Anyone know of upcoming job fairs for LI school districts?

i coudl be absolutely wrong, but i have never heard of job fairs for LI schools. some may go to college job fairs or things like that, but unlike the Board of Ed. that have several job fairs a year, i have never seen or heard about one of LI schools. the want of jobs is so high, they barely need to advertise.

Northport East Northport is doing one, it say to fill out an applicaltiion or call their HR

I feel like I went to a BOCES job fair a few years ago. There was another one for "culturally diverse" educators a week or two later. Both had lots of different LI districts show up to recruit. But I can't find anything for either one this year... think it's economy related?
Thanks for the tip about Northport.

I think the job fairs are more in March/April, but I did see that Northport is having one.

I couldn't believe that Northport is accepting applications in order to be invited to attend the job fair. WOW! I knew LI was hard to get in to but I didn;t know it was like that!!

this was in the NYT
Teacher Job Fair; Apply on-line by 1/23/09 at: www.northport.k12.ny.us and click on “online application OLAS;” if assistance is needed call the office of HR at 631-262-6628.; selected candidates will be invited to attend by return mail
This is where they will probably do their bulk of initial interviewing; so being asked to attend, is just kind of like being called for a first interview.

Since they can't hire based on race, anyone can go. Diverse is white, black, orange, purple.

I think those job fairs are aimed at recruiting teachers from racial/ethnic minority backgrounds, but anyone can go.
