I need motivation...
Hey all...this is my first post on this board. I did weight watchers for about a year and a half (really stuck with it) and lost 54 lbs before my wedding. I was so proud of myself. Then all hell started breaking loose. My thyroid was off (YET AGAIN) and i didnt have a wedding to keep the weight off. Somehow in 6 months i've gained 34 lbs. Dont get me wrong i know how i did it. Saying yes to desserts, and empty calorie snacking, etc. Well i cant stand it. I am tired all of the time and i cant believe i almost bought "fat clothes" again. I've refused. My clothes are tight but i refuse to buy bigger clothes. DH and i want to start conceiving within 6 months to a year and i want to get to goal before pregnancy. My mentality is if i dont lose this before i get pregnant, there is no way i will ose it once i have kids. I am on my way back to weight watchers but i am stuck between joining online or in person. I tried going back in person and went for a few weeks then couldnt commit...i know, i know an excuse. I need help!!! If you have had success on ww via internet i would love to hear all about this. If you've gotten this far, bless you lol

Re: I need motivation...
Did you know that your adrenal gland can get affected by stress, and can make you crave sweets and heavy carbs? That can contribute to the way you are feeling - it makes you tired and needing sweets all the time.
How is your eating overall? Are there things you can knock off right off the bat without it being too much of a struggle?

Oh absolutely...well somewhat....i dont drink soda at all and i rarely drink any other type of calorie beverages....when i go out i always get water or unsweetened iced tea. During the week i think im going back to bad old habits. Not eating enough early in the day. I have a south beach bar for breakfast and a full bottle of water. For lunch i have a lean cuisine or a weight watcher meal with baked chips and a piece of fruit with water of course. After teaching when i get home is what does it. I am ususally starving when i get home. Ive been holding out til dinner and thats when everything gets shady. Dinner i havent been pointing and i am eating empty calories after dinner which needs to change. I definitely need to get rid of the baked chips at lunch and substitute with a veggie.

You need to eat a better breakfast (I am bad with breakfast - my new years resolution!!!!) - a south beach breakfast bar is not enough, and lean cuisines are all sodium and very little fiber. I don't know about WW lunches but LC are really bad. Baked chips have little fiber in them. From what it sounds like, you are not eating enough during the day, which is when you want to take in the most calories, and you want to up the fiber content.... That is why you come home starving!
When I lost weight, I made little snack cups for myself all day. One cup had almonds, one cup had dried fruit, one had high fiber wheat crackers, one had grapes, baby carrots, etc... I snacked all day on high fiber, healthy foods. It helped with being hungry.
ETA - Also, you need a healthy snack for the drive home!

You know what you're right. I am not eating nearly enough fiber. When i lost all of my weight thats what i ate. Even when i brought lean cuisines for lunch i used to bring carrot sticks and hummus. I know lean cuisines are bad but they keep me in check and fill me up pretty well. As far as the snacks on the way home from work, i work three miles from home so i wait til i get home lol. I have to replan my diet with fiberous snacks. Good call

Re: I need motivation...
I am all for fiber in the diet. Not only does it keep me feeling full, but it helps regulate you and those BM help with feeling bloated, full, etc.
I agree that you're just not eating enough of the right foods. I often thought eating less would make me lose weight, but for me, that isn't the case. I too have a thyroid condition and I need to eat the proper foods at the proper times to keep everything balanced. Also, my dietary supplements work in conjunction with my body AND my diet for optimal health benefits.
For breakfast (7-7:30 am), I have organic Fiber Bran cereal, fruit, milk, oatmeal, etc.
Within 3 hours (10-11 am), I have a snack; Fiber One bar, carrots, fruit, veggies, nuts.
Lunch (1-2 pm) is organic bread with either organic PB and sugar-free strawberry jam, cold cuts, or a LC or WW meal that is the highest in fiber I can find.
Sometimes I need a snack by 3-4pm, but lately I haven't. When I do, its usually nuts or fruit. This stops me from over indulging when I get home while I wait for FH to get home.
Dinner can be anywhere from 6-8pm.
I don't eat after 8pm. No soda, no refined white carbs, limited added white sugar. No high fructose corn syrup (as much as I can conceivably avoid). Tons and tons and tons of water (I drink over 150 oz. per day).
This is what helps me. Good luck!
