Shrubs in Front of the house?

OKay, I really hate the bushes in front of my house!!! REALLY HATE!!!

they are overgrown and nasty looking!!

we do plan to take them out and replant smaller more modern looking bushes however everyone tells us we have to wait now till the fall becuase it's too late to replant shrubs/bushes.

Do you think it will look totally terrible if we take out all the bushes now and put down weed blocker with cedar mulch unti the fall? I dont want to look at them anymore!!! they make the house look horrible, we are getting a new roof put on next week and I think it make the whole house look better if we get these damn bushed out of here!!!

Opinions/Thoughts?

by taking them out, it might open up the front a bit, in addition to making you hapier :) ....you could always buy a flat or two of impatients or other annuals for this yr, just to have something on the mulch for this yr if you think its too empty and in the fall, plant new shrubs!

Really Ive always planted what I want when we want and never had a problem!!! We had our landscaper re do the front of our house ripped out tons of shrubs and plant new ones and it was in June.

I agree. Take them out if you don't like them. I think it would look nice if you put down mulch and planted a bunch of annual flowers

I could have written your post!

We had the same exact type of bushes in front of our house and we just ripped them out 2 weeks ago. We put down mulch with weedblocker and are waiting until the fall to replant smaller shrubs.

It has totally opened up the hosue and front yard and my only regret is that we did not do it sooner.

Take them out!!!! We did and it was so worth it.

I redid all my landscaping last year in June.

we ripped out our bushes last fall and redid the front of the house and it looks so much better!!

My DH made brick planters so it looks neat. We took the old bushes...they are like little Christmas trees and replanted them in the backyard so they can grow bigger. We planted smaller bushes and plants in its place
