Great books that people may not have heard about...
Have you read a great book that hasn't recieved much hype, but you think people would really enjoy?
I loved reading The Last Boy by Robert Lieberman.
What books have you read that are "unknown" but you really enjoyed??

Anything by Peter Mayle...I think I read about him in the paper and I absolutely LOVE all of his books. I have to own them so I can go back and reread them occasionally.

Don't Let's Go To The Dogs Tonight- An African Childhood by Alexandra Fuller. It was beautifully written and captivating.
The Maisie Dobbs mysteries don't get as much attention as they should, they have great historical detail (set in England in the early 30s with lots of WWI references). Super well written and Maisie is a fabulous character.
I may be back with more.

I love everything I have read by Isabel Allende -- very popular author, especially in her native Chile, but not a "best seller" here in the US>....Don't know if Oprah has even heard of her, lol!

Actually, Oprah did one of her books a while back (in the first round of the book club.) I think it might have been Daughter of Fortune.
I also love Allende - two of my favorites of her fictional books are the House of the Spirits and Eva Luna. Paula is my absolute favorite, it is autobiographical, but so very sad in parts.
