My DH started as a temp in his job- he was one for 4 months. After that he was hired, and 9 years later- is still at the same company!

3 months - the company wanted to bring me on as perm immediately but didn't want to pay the steep fee to sign me before the trial period.

Typically temp-perm positions are set for 3 or 6 months. Not all temp jobs go perm, I know people that have been a temp at the same company for years.
