Random quick poll about dr appts

If you call your general dr in the morning for a sick visit, do you normally get an appt that day? (Whether it is with your normal dr, another dr or nurse practitioner)

The dr office where DH and I go used to be able to accomodate us most of the time. But in the past 6 months they usually have no appts for at least a day or two, even if we have the entire day open to get there.

We are just trying to figure out if it's normal for an office to always be booked and not accomodate sick patients. We are thinking about changing offices.

TIA!!!!!

i am going to say with our PCP we can 95 % of the time get in that day.

Now my sister uses the same dr and she tried to get in one day last week and they where booked, but they got her in the following day.

I dont think we have waited more then a day for an appointment

Yes because when I"m sick like that i just go to the walk in place.
They are cleaner and nicer than any other dr's office i've been to and there is no appointments so you get in any day.

We always get an appointment that day at the our general practioner.

For specialists, it depends. Could be that day or weeks. Neurologists can be months.

50/50. I've gotten in ASAP and I've sometimes had to wait a day or two. My Dr's office is pretty tiny so appt. fill up fast.

If I REALLY need to get in but they were booked, a little persuasive biitching and moaning usually did the trick (Chat Icon Chat Icon)

Re: Random quick poll about dr appts

The general practice I had gone to for about 10 years, yes, I could always get in right away. My company changed insurance, and they are not in my plan.

I've tried using my in-laws doctor, horrible!! I was in excrutiating pain once and they told me the could 'fit me in' in two weeks. TWO WEEKS????

I've tried finding another doctor recently, but still have no luck with a good doctor that can get in the same day or next day.

Always, but I sit and wait a REALLY long time. Like, if they tell me to come at 1, I MIGHT see the dr. by 3.

Re: Random quick poll about dr appts

Most of the time I can get an appt. with my PCP the same day.

However, they always overbook, the waiting room is packed, there is always a long wait.

I usually settle for whomever will see me, which is usually a PA. It's completely impersonal, and sometimes I feel like they barely even look me in the eyes.

If it's asthma-related, they will definitely get me in that day though. Sometimes I've gotten really frustrated with the long wait-times, and considered switching. But the fact that they take me when my asthma is bad is why I've stayed.

I was reading an article about this (and I can't remember where I was reading it...) but I remember the statistic. Only 17% of people said they could get a same day appt with their PCP. I thought that was really, really low!
