Any avid cruisers?
I've been on one cruise 3 years ago for 3 days, so I'm pretty novice at this.
DH and I are about to book an Alaskan Cruise for the end of May. We are set on the dates and there are two cruise lines that cruise on the dates we want.
For those that know cruises, which do you think is a better boat and why?
Princess Cruises or Holland America
TIA

Re: Any avid cruisers?
Def. check out cruisecritic (mentioned above) I have gone on about 13 or 14 cruises and use it for my research.
I like princess - but Holland American is a good line too.
Celebrity has some amazing Alaskan cruises - but can be more expensive.
Def. price around - I usually use bestpricecruises
and check out: Cruise compete

Re: Any avid cruisers?
We went to Alaska in July '03 on Norwegian. At the time, the line with the best land and sea packages was Holland America, they have this really nice train that goes through Denali National Park that you can add onto the beginning or end of your trip. We would have liked to do that one, but we got a much better deal on Norwegian.

Re: Any avid cruisers?
I have been on 2 Princess cruises and they are great!! Never been on Holland America, but I have heard from numerous people that it is a great cruise line.
So either way you can't go wrong!
My favorite cruise Line is Celebrity, but they are a bit expensive. So is a Royal Caribbean.
Go with the better deal on Princess or Holland. You will have a wonderful time!!

Re: Any avid cruisers?
I have been on Norweign and Princess. I think Princess is a great cruise line. ( I have done 3 cruises with them. ) I heard there are a lot of older people on Holland America, but if that does not bother u , then go for it. But if u r looking for a younger crowd , stick with Princess. HTH

Re: Any avid cruisers?
Thanks for all the feedback.
We booked Princess and mainly because they had the dates that we wanted. We've heard that most of the Alaskan cruises do have an older crowd on the boat, but that's okay. DH isn't the most social person and could care less about meeting and hanging out with people on the boat.
