Re: Courses/schools for ABA certification?

I know some of the agencies offer courses.

Kidz therapy has a website
All About Kids in plainvew might do some courses. Maybe call Little Village or Variety school and see if they offer training or where you could go.

Re: Courses/schools for ABA certification?

If you are looking to do coursework towards a bcba (board certified behavior analyst) or a bcaba than those courses at kidz therapy or little village aren't the ones for you. They will give you information on aba and how to apply the principles to your teaching, but it isn't coursework towards a certification. If you want to find out certification you can go to this website : http://www.bacb.com/becom_frame.html

I had started taking classes at University of North Texas distance learning. It was pretty good but I also had prior knowledge of the principles of ABA because I have been working in the field for 10 years. The courses were a lot of work, but it was pretty good. My friend just told me the other day Hunter just got approved for courses. Off the top of my head I also know that Queens, CW Post, hofstra and columbia are all approved for course work. Probably stony brook is too! Hope this helps!

Re: Courses/schools for ABA certification?

There is a BCBA degree but I don't think you have to be a BCBA to provide ABA therapy. There is a poster she provides information on the children with special needs I believe she does aba you ask her she might be able to provide you with more information

No you don't need to be a bcba to provide therapy. But . . .to say you have certification on a resume, you need to have the coursework completed. I have been using the principles of ABA for 10 years doing therapy, but I don't have my BCBA. Each agency will provide training on the way they utilize the principles usually!

ETA: The agencies also provide "workshops" not "courses". Those you take in a school.

Re: Courses/schools for ABA certification?

SUNY Stoneybrook has a BCBA program... it's not a degree program (most people in it are already special ed. certified) but it does give you the certification.
