UPDATE ON POSSIBLE SNOW DAY!!! FOR DOE TEACHERS!
MAYOR SAYS HE IS WAITING TILL LATER TONIGHT TO MAKE A DECISION BUT IF IT'S AS BAD AS THEY SAY IT WILL BE, HE WILL CLOSE!
The word now is, they will probably decide by late tonight when they know more about the storm.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I went to NYC public schools K-8 and this is my 5th year working NEVER got a snow day...
When I was in 9th grade (And catholic school) NYC got off...when I was in college NYC got off....so I feel like when Im out on maternity leave will be the next snow day

I went to NYC public schools K-8 and this is my 5th year working NEVER got a snow day...
When I was in 9th grade (And catholic school) NYC got off...when I was in college NYC got off....so I feel like when Im out on maternity leave will be the next snow day
Ha! Well didn't the DOE shut down when there was that big storm in 2006??! There was 27 inches in Central Park and the subways and buses shut down! (I wasn't working for the DOE yet at that point, but I assume they would have closed for that!!)

That will probably be up to the schools- it seems like colleges are quicker to close, even in NYC. There have been times when colleges have been closed or modified and K-12 open.
My DH teaches college in Westchester and they close pretty often.

Yep...so many teachers called out that they would just out 4 to 5 classes in the auditorium. I think like 1/2 of teachers showed up.

NOPE I remember that day... I had 2 or 3 kids in each of my classes, and half (at least) of the teachers in my school called out.
What a waste it was to be there!!!!
