First time with Fondant!
I decided to make my own cake for Billy's 2nd Birthday party this weekend. We were doing a Nemo theme. The only thing I couldnt do was make a Nemo. But he got the point with the orange and white fish
We made our own fondant and it was really easy to work with. I used cookie cutters or a paring knife to carve the shapes out of rolled fondant. And I used candy molds for the shells and dusted them with that edible shimmer powder stuff.
It was alot of fun to do! I cant wait to make another!
sorry about the poor quality - I took these with my phone....
And the cake in action! Thanks for the pic Julie! I still havent uploaded any of mine!

AMAZING! How did you make the fondant?
It was just marshmallow & water. And while I was working with it, I used powdered sugar to keep it from sticking to surfaces and my hands.

Re: First time with Fondant!
Wow, that looks great, especially for your first fondant cake. I made my first last year and it took me weeks to make the gumpaste figures.

That cake looks AMAZING!!
When you say marshmallow and water....is it like marshmallow fluff?
Do you have the recipe for the fondant?

Re: First time with Fondant!
I'm sorry I always forget to check this forum
This is the website we got the recipe from (I forgot we added the sugar lol)
We also did not use crisco shortening, but kept spraying our hands & counter with cooking spray. We didnt use the microwave for ours....I think my dh steamed them....all you have to do is get them to melt, no matter how you do it )
