Early Arrival Premies mentioned
Good Morning Twin Mommies,
My babies decided to make an early arrival last Tuesday. My picture perfect pregnancy lasted 30 weeks and then without any warning or prior issue, I gave birth.
Both are doing well. Amanda weighed 2 pounds 12 oz at birth and Caitlin weigghed 2 pounds 11 ounces. Both are in the NICU at NSUH in Manhassett. Neither needed respirators and are on CPAP.
Are there any other moms out there that gave birth at 30 weeks? Any advice?

i gave birth at 31 and a half weeks. I though only had 1 baby. she weighed in at 4bls. my one thing that i felt that helped a lot was kangaroo holding. they told me she would be there till her"birthday" but she was out in 2 weeks 3 days. she was the best birthday present i ever got in my life! good luck with them and many prayers for a short NICU stay

I gave birth at 32 weeks, 5 days. Single birth. DD was born at 4 pounds, 14 ozs. She was in the NICU at Winthrop for 5 weeks.
Expect good days and bad days, and hold your babies as much as the nurses will allow.
Good luck Fm me if you have any qestions.

Re: Early Arrival Premies mentioned
My best friend had her girls at 29.5 weeks. They spent almost 3 months in NICU but now are happy healthy and 3 years old. One of her daughters has a speech delay that is being helped tremendously through EI and therapy. Besides for that they are great. Like Janet said Kangaroo, breats milk, lots of cuddling and touching. My babies were born at 35.4 weeks and i did all of the above. They came home in 7 and 9 days. Your girls will be fine

Re: Early Arrival Premies mentioned
Congrats on the birth of your daughters. I don't have any experience with the NICU (my boys came at 36 weeks), but a friend of mine had her kid at 30 weeks and he is now a healthy and happy 4 year old!
Best of luck. Keep us updated.

Re: Early Arrival Premies mentioned
No advice really....
The only thing I can think of is...To not think that you need to spend every waking moment at the NICU with them. Especially as it gets closer to HOMECOMING...
Give yourself a chance to recoup and get the house in order etc...
But I also know that that's easier said than done....
Congrats..I have twin girls too..they are such a joy.

I have a similar story. Gave birth at 33 weeks (only 1 baby) she was 4lbs 2 oz. at birth and spent only 2 weeks in the NICU before coming home.
Congrats on the birth of your twins!
