So, as a childless couple...

would you take nieces/nephews away with you if you had to share the room with them??
Our niece just invited herself to go away with us this weekend and she's too young for her own room (12) and even though I love her to death, I was looking forward to a little *ROMANCE*

Oh well...guess it'll be Sunday night!! Chat Icon

Re: So, as a childless couple...

We love taking our neice with us. SIL is a single mom and it gives her a break and she's a great kid- she's 10 so its the same thing, she has to be with us.

Dont get me wrong, we take vacations by ourselves too.

Re: So, as a childless couple...

Wait- you said your niece INVITED HERSELF away with you?
Oh HELL no... no way.

I would take my niece away with us but ONLY on our terms.

If I had a romantic weekend planned with DH there would be no inviting of themselves on it.
Sorry, that's just wrong!

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Would I take my nieces / nephews away if we had to share a room? Yes, If WE invited them.

Would I let my niece invite herself on a trip I planned for just the two of us? NO.

Hmmmm? Inviting herself? I don't know about that..

But, I would take my goddaughter away with us and share a room.

Re: So, as a childless couple...

I see no issue sharing a room, but if you were looking for a litte relaxing fun time (especially with all you and DH are going through) she shouldn't come.

You need some romantic time. Invite your niece to sleep over your house next weekend and plan some fun time then. I'd let this just be for you guys.

Well, she asked...but only last night. It wasn't a romantic getaway, per se..we just happen to be going upstate for a St. Patty's Day party at a friend's house. My sister's family was invited too, but she has a newborn plus 3 others and BIL is working, so obviously they are not going. I have no problem taking her (she's also my Goddaughter) was just curious to see what others had to say!
I used to taek her away all the time before I got married...guess she's just used to that!
Thanks for all the input!! Chat Icon

yeah, I have to agree.

I'd be heartbroken, b/c I love my nieces...so I'd go out of my way to make them a real "rain check" or something fab, and plan an elaborate sleepover of fun...just ANOTHER time.

when I am feeling frisky, I HATE HATE HATE when others put the cabbash on that. especially if I have the chains and whips packed already Chat Icon

I don't know if I would take someone else's child away with us. My DH wouldn't like it at all.

I would not, but I am not particularly close with my nieces and nephews.

I would if we were closer to DH's nephew or if my brothers had any children.

Re: So, as a childless couple...

I don't have any nieces or nephews but if I did, I would not take them on vacation with us. We hardly go on vacation as it is, it's our time to get away.. the last thing I'd want is to have someone else tagging along who we'd have to keep tabs on the entire time.
