Pomeranians
I was just chatting with someone and she has a white Pomeranian up for adoption. The dog is between 5 and 6lbs, female and 1.5 years old.
Can anyone give me info on this dog? My mother friend has one that is very loving and very friendly....I just want to make sure the dog will be good with children and other animals. Thanks, Scott

Re: Pomeranians
Tynie is a pomeranian and she is the BEST dog ever! Very spoiled little princess, I must admit, but that is really my fault, it's hard to say no to her. Pomeranians are extremely intelligent and very graceful, good with kids too. They shed a lot though, you have to brush them often. If you have any questions, feel free to FM me, I can talk about dogs all day

Re: Pomeranians
My friend has had many Poms & they are great with her kids....very tolerant. I would recommend though, like with any small dog that you try as much as possible to socialize them with kids as they are growing up, so that when you guys have your own kids it is not a totally new experience.
I want to add that I know you want a Chi also, but I have to tell you that the Chihuahua, as a breed, is notoriously bad with children. They can get very jealous and very intolerant of a baby in their house.
The grooming on a Pom is almost the same as on a long-haired Chi, and with regular brushing can be kept quite nice between visits to the groomer.

Re: Pomeranians
Thanks for the info - I finally received pictures of the pomeranian that a woman in nassau county has up for adoption. She is adorable.....Hopefully we can go take a look at her this weekend.
Any info you have on the breed would be welcomed Thanks, Scott

Re: Pomeranians
Here is a link to the Animal Planet's write up. I find them to be pretty accurate usually. If you have any specific questions about the dog you want to adopt, of course ask the current owner.
