Just wondering-My DH's business went under and I was wondering if he would be eligible for unemployment while he looks for a job-TIA!

Was he he paying unemployment taxes? I would think that would be the only way. I believe when an employee gets unemployment they are drawing on the money that their company paid in taxes.

DH is on the books in his own business. If his business goes under he can draw against the funds paid into unemployment.

As the others said, it depends on how he got paid. Also, it depends on whether he paid unemployment insurance for himself. The owner of a business has the option not to include him or her self on the Workers' Compensation policy or the short term disability policy (in NY). I believe that is true regardless of the type of business entity and I believe that the same holds true for unemployment.
