Anyone here has an IUD?
I have decided to get one and already made an appointment for insertion. Can you talk to me about side effects, problems, issues, anything... If it all one brand and one type? How painful was the insertion? Do you actually need to check on it every months by pulling on the string? Can your DH feel it during intercourse? (I just read on wikipedia that it is possible)
Share anything you have got! :D Thank you!

Re: Anyone here has an IUD?
I have had the Mirena® IUD since August 2008(about 7 months). It didn't really hurt at all. I started spotting that day (then my period started 2 days later) and I continued to spot for 2 months
My first few periods were really heavy and really crampy. I would then spot for 2 weeks after my period. It felt like I was always bleeding for months!
My last 2 periods I have had(month 6 and month 7 of having it) have been great. I spot for a few days (not even heavy enough to need more than panty liner). The cramping these last 2 months haven't been too bad either. I can now say I love it (I almost had it taken out because I was so sick of the bleeding).
My DH can't feel it during sex. I do check to make sure its there once a month. I don't pull the stings, I just make sure I can feel it.

Re: Anyone here has an IUD?
I've had Mirena since July 2007 and I love it. I had some cramping for a week after getting it. My periods for the first 4 months were a little lighter but lasted about 7 days instead of the 4 days when I was on BC.
I can't remember the last time I had a period. I do get some very mild cramps for a day around the time I would get my period, but never bleed.
My DH can't feel anything either and I just check periodically to make sure it's still there.
