Re: spinoff to sleep apnea
he can speak to his dr about it and there is a checklist that the dr. will ask. If he says yes to a number of them he will probably be recommended to go for a sleep study.
I did mine at good sam hospital. You go there around 8pm they hook you up to machines and study your sleeping patterns. You go home around 6am and then get the results.
I tried the cpap machimne but I cant sleep with it so I am going today for my oral appliance fitting, hope it works

Re: spinoff to sleep apnea
I'm going to Sleep Solutions in Smithtown. http://sleepsolutionsny.com/index.php They have a "bed and breakfast" motif to their sleep center. One of the rooms has a fireplace, they all have flat screen TVs, wireless Internet, cable, a little basket with water and snacks.
They told me to get there between 9 and 10pm (so DC are well asleep), and I leave between 4:30 and 5:30am, so I'll get home before anybody wakes up. Since I usually wake up at 6am, I could technically do this during the week and not affect my schedule.
Even if DH doesn't have apnea, there are things they can do to prevent the snoring. Apnea is when the breathing stops for a few seconds, and the person has to gasp for air. He may just need an oral appliance to stop the snoring.

Re: spinoff to sleep apnea
for my dad - the TRUE sign was that he snored all night long and then suddenly, there would be a break in the sound - NO NOISE...that was when he stopped breathing...then, right back to LOUD snoring.
some of the flags for him: neck size, high blood pressure, snoring and no noise, stress and his weight.
