1st time in a position of authority over someone else
and she doesn't respect what i have to say. i think my approach was too nice and she walked all over me. i didnt want to come off b!tchy, but i guess i have to step it up a notch.
the problem is that her actions (more like in-actions) have caused people to think that i am irresponsible.
i think part of the problem is that i am much younger than her and she has been here for 20 yrs and me for less than 1 yr.
how do i come off stronger and have her respect me and what i say w/out being a b!tch about it?
TIA!

There are some great books about being a manager/supervisor. I read some of them a while ago but I can't remember the names of them right now. I'm sure you might find them on Amazon.com or one of the other sites.

I've read a few of these books and they have been really helpful.

I had a similar situation at work when I used to supervise. I just documented everything for about 4-5 months so I could end up booting her a$$.
