Steriods?
I have to take a steroid (prednisone) for a couple months. Of course the doctor told me about the side effects which really scared me. Anyone been on this and have side effects?

For how long and what is the dosage?
there are other cortosteroids you can take that may have less side effects. It depends on what you are being treated for.

Honestly, I've never been on prednisone but my daughter was when she was about 4. It made her completely nuts. She had severe mood swings and an appetite that almost surpassed my husband.
She was on a moderate dosage for about 2 months. And like I said, she was young - so I don't know as an adult how it would affect you.

I was on prednisone while pregnant (I had PUPPPS rash). It made me itchy fom the inside, if that makes any sense at all. I was on 30mg for 7 days. I put up with the side effects because it did help my rash but I wouldn't want to use it again if I could avoid it.
I am not sure of the mood swing side affects as I was completey insane from the PUPPS itch combo'd with pregnancy hormones.

My cousin has been on prednisone for rheumatoid arthritis on and off since she was very young. It causes her face to swell and can also cause weight gain due to increased appetite and mood swings. It is different for everyone though.

I was on Prednisone briefly. My only noticeable side effect was weight gain. BIL was on it for a while, and he had weight gain as well.

i believe the most common effect is weight gain. My MIL was on steroids after she fractured her clavicle a few years ago...she said she felt like superwoman on it!!

I would start at 80mg for a week, go down to 70mg the next week and 60 the following week...continuing the pattern for 8 weeks.
I am being treated for an inflamatory disease. I was getting treated with injections every month but it is not working at the rate they would like to see.
