MCing and D&C???
I so hate to be posting about this but im having a MC. I have to see my Dr at 7am and he will do a sono to confirm, i just spoke with him a little while ago and he said thats whats happening. Sorry for TMI but if im bleeding already and passing tissue will i have to have a d&c? I had one when i was 17 but now that i have 2 babies im so scared of getting put to sleep for some reason. I guess i will talk to him in the morning about it but i just figured id ask here now. Im sorry we all have to be in this situation, its so hard! I will keep you all in my prayers! Thanks

Re: MCing and D&C???
So sorry to hear this, I don't know if you will have to have a D&C but when I had one a few weeks ago, I had a spinal block. eta, I miscarried at 19 weeks, so it might have been slightly different.
Good luck!

Re: MCing and D&C???
When he does your sono, he will know how much has passed, and whether or not it all passed on itself, or if it is incomplete. If its incomplete, they will likely recommend a D&C.
I had one in September, and was awake for it with nothing but a local anasthetic. It wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't as bad as you might imagine.
Feel free to FM me with any questions you may have....I am so sorry for your loss

Re: MCing and D&C???
I'm sorry for your loss.
We had no heartbeat at 8 weeks and my dr. gave me the choice of a D&C or let it happen on its own. I chose to let it happen on its own. It did take another 2 weeks for it to happen, but the bleeding only lasted a few days.

Re: MCing and D&C???
I had a m/c at 7 weeks and was given the choice of waiting to m/c naturally or having a D&C. I chose the D&C because I wanted closure. I also chose it because of the possibility that they could do genetic testing to find out what wrong (though there was no guarantee that they would be able to tell).
I had local anesthesia and had no issues with it.
I am so sorry for your loss

Re: MCing and D&C???
The same situation happened to me. I was scheduled for the D&C, but began bleeding heavily, etc. I called my doctor who phoned in a prescription for cytotec...which was a medication to help contract the uterus even more. In the end I avoided the D&C and I was thrilled because I was in a panic about being "put under."

I'm so sorry for your loss...if you are MC already you may not need a D&C but you will have to check with your doc
