Low Body Temperature
Does anyone on here notice that they consistently have a low body temperature? I think this may be normal but just curious.
Mine is always low - like 97-97.6 at the most. Today I am feeling a little off and very chilled so I took my temp and its 96.6! Weird!
On a side note I am always pretty cold and not sure if that has anything to do with it. However when I work out and go running I seriously overheat. I don't sweat but just get so hot and a really red face!

But when I workout (as you said) I'm the total opposite..I sweat like a pig!!! seriously I feel like a man sometimes when I come out of the gym! lol

Re: Low Body Temperature
Yes, I actually started researching this on the internet recently because my temp is normally like 97. something, sometimes it falls into the 96's.
What I read was that the normal temp is 98.6 but it can be 1 full degree lower or higher and still be in the normal range.
So if you are in the 96's you are really still pretty close to normal, just lower a little bit. You will also notice if you take your temp in the middle of the day it wil be a drop higher than the morning or night.
No worries

Re: Low Body Temperature
I have a body temp around 97 too, and I'm always cold...I've always been that way. If it's not something new or that happened suddenly, then it's probably not a problem.

Re: Low Body Temperature
I find that when I get really tired my body temperature drops. I don't know if there is a direct correlation or not. I also get "man" sweats, too and really red-faced when I work out.

Re: Low Body Temperature
Mine is always between 96 and 97. So when I feel sick if my temperature is a 99, too me, thats a bad fever. AND I HATE, that when I go to the Dr. thats nothing because its just a half a point above the norm

Re: Low Body Temperature
hmm I think normal for me is around 97.7-98
I know it's different for everyone. I heard it's good to know your "healthy" temperature because if your norm is very low, then if you get 99.5 or something that's not really a fever, for YOU it should be treated like a fever since it's so much higher than what your norm is.
That is just something I heard I'm not a doctor though! I'm just a google/webmd addict!

Re: Low Body Temperature
funny you should mention this!
I always have a low temperature. I am ALWAYS cold BUT if I work out or its a little humid - I literally sweat like a man, I will actually drip sweat its disgusting.
Not sure what it means but it is annoying. I used to get very high fevers as a kid - and febrile seizures ( at 106 - 107!!!! ) but now if I am at 100 I feel like I am going to collapse.

Re: Low Body Temperature
We don't usually worry about body temp until it's lower than 96.6 or greater than 100.4. Usually that's when there will be effects to the body. So you girls are ok. As for effects on sweating.. I don't know anything about that.

Re: Low Body Temperature
It's definitely normal! My usual body temp is lower than the average.

Re: Low Body Temperature
My body temperature when i'm not sick is pretty normal, around 97.9 or 98 BUT when I'm sick it goes down to like 95.9, 96.1. I hardly ever get real fevers but I'm always warm, so if I start getting chills and I'm the only one cold, i know i'm getting sick. As you can tell by my pictures, i don't work out, so I can't speak anything about that.
