Does anyone use( tried) a DHA/Omega 3 supplement?

Was just reading a book " The late Talker" and it discusses Clinical trials where High Dha Fish Oil helped with talking and other skills.

Do they recommend a MUCH higher dosage than "normal"?

Did you ask a Dr. on this?

I would like to know myself. I read it was wonderful for adults too in term of nutrition and immune system.

I give Nicholas fish oil, in the hopes that it will eventually lessen his need for the ADHD meds. You need a really high dosage of EPA to see any effects, from what I've read online. After much research, I bought the Omega Mood from Country Life.

They are HUGE capsules though, so I don't think a toddler would be able to swallow them.

I've heard that it works. I did buy it to try but it had soy in it, which my son is allergic to. I never actually went to exchange it.

honestly I dont know about the dosage, the one Diane posted is the one I wanted to try, and it comes in a pudding like form vs taking a pill.

I plan to try it but will talk to Our Ped about it at our next visit which is at 2 yrs old in like 7 weeks.

I used it with Ava for about 2 weeks. It smelled soooo bad that it was torture to get her to take it. Once I got it on my hand and couldn't get the smell out for 2 days!

It is orange flavored, and does have a fishy smell. Christopher has no problem taking it. I have put it in applesauce, and now I mix it in his juice.

I did give DD Omega 3 liquid for a while. I do think it was working but its smells so bad, that I can't imagine how it must taste. DD fights me and eventually I stopped giving it to her, but I really should start again.

I got DS a brand called Spectrum Essentials Toddler DHA drops at Whole Foods (in the baby aisle by other nutritional children's supplements). It doesn't contain fish oil and is supposedly neutral tasting. DS doesn't seem to mind it so far. I'll try to give an update after it's been a few weeks.

I used it for a year and speech wise nothing changed. Pedi said it was healthy for him and it doesn't hurt to continue.
