Did you notice though that the team didn't mob him at home plate? Tells you a lot about how people feel about Shef! They all waited for him to approach the dugout! David Wright gave him a nice hug though. Chat Icon

I LOVED Shef as a Yankee...well in the beginning, until he went back to his old mouthing-off ways.

I totally disagree with Tara and agree with Bklyn.

I actually thought the hugging was a little much. He hit a HR to tie the game. There was still a few more important innings to play.

I too thought it was really classy for all the player to come out to give him a hug. But you have to remember the game wasn't over and you don't want to go overboard with the celebration and upset the other team. It's not like he just broke the HR record.

I thought it was classy enough and it was no way a reflection of how much the clubhouse hates Sheff. Come on. That's typical Yankee propoganda. Chat Icon

Granted, Shef is still a 'new' Met anyway. I don't know why though, DH and I just expected the guys to run to him, maybe that isn't protocol after all. But looking back on it, I don't think the Yankees did it for A-Rod when he got his 500th (which was a game I was supposed to be at but I got married that day! Chat Icon

). And according to the Joe Torre book, A-Rod isn't a beloved player in the clubhouse either. Chat Icon

I guess for a record like that it's more of a classy, respectful celebration than a big mob scene at the plate.
