How long after birth control??
I went to my dr yesterday for a pre-conception appt. I was on birth control (nuvaring) for about a year and stopped it a month ago. I wanted to get a prescrip for pre-natal vitamins and get an "ok" for me to ttc...she said that she recommends i wait about 2 more months since ive only been off birth control for 1 month!!!!!!
do you think it would be bad if i just started temping and whatever happens, happens, or should i play it safe and wait the 2 months. i realize that 2 months is nothing in the scope of things, but i was so excited to just start ttc'ing!!
do any of you have an opinion on this or a similar experience?? i dont know what i should do!!

Re: How long after birth control??
I'm not familiar with nuvaring, but my Dr. said there was no reason to wait to TTC after you go off the pill. She said they often tell people to wait just so their cycles get back to normal and it's easier to date the pregnancy. She told me not to wait because I had endometriosis and she was afraid it could come back if I was off the pill for too long.

Re: How long after birth control??
My doctor told me not too wait also. I think mainly because I have PCOS. We started trying right away.

Re: How long after birth control??
I think every doctor is different on this. I will be off the pill for a full year before we really TTC. After 12+ years on the pill the doctor wanted me off long enough to establish a cycle - and honestly, even after 7 months, there is very little pattern to it.

Re: How long after birth control??
I would go ahead and TTC. My prenatals are Stuart brand from CVS. My good friend got pregnant the first month off the pill with both of her babies. The doctor swore it would take a few months, but it didn't for her! And she has two healthy babies as a result. I say if you are mentally ready to TTC - go for it - you never know how long it may take! Good luck!

My doctor told me to wait 2 months. The way I look at it is if it happens it happens.

I am on the Nuvaring and we plan to TTC in June. My Dr. told me to stop using the ring in April and she has already placed me on prenatals. So that really leaves me just 1 month free which would be May. So I think there is no problem with TTC as soon as you stop using the ring.
