My Dr. can't figure out what's wrong with me...
I've been sick with high fevers for about a month.
They found a huge concentration of white blood cells in my urine, they diagnosed me with an advanced kidney infection, put me on a huge dose of a hefty antibiotic for 10 days, and that was supposed to be it.
Well, the antibiotic is done and the fevers are still coming. Analysis of my urine today showed traces still of white blood cells, but maybe not enough to be causing the fevers.
My next step is a cat-scan of my kidneys to see if there are any blockages or stones, but that's not until next Wednesday.
I'm supposed to be back to work on Monday, and that's a week later than it was originally supposed to be. I don't know how to tell my principal that I can't come back to work because they can't figure out what's wrong with me...I have a feeling that news won't go over well.

Im basically in the same boat as you and I havent gotten very far....

I told my Dr. I wanted to see a urologist. Of course you know how it is...it'll be at leas 2-3 weeks before I can get an appt. there.
I'm scared more than anything else.

You should see a nephrologist. Don't mess with your kidneys. Have your doc recommend one and have him/her get you in asap.
Most doctors can call and help get you in sooner.
I'm sorry you are suffering.
If you are having high fevers and re-ocurring infections, have you tried a probiotic? It's OTC and it's good bacteria to balance out the bad that may be in your system.
My MIL had re-ocurring bladder infections and she started taking it and has had no problems since.

Get that CT scan and see a urologist! I had a urologist see me first thing in the hospital when they knew it was my kidney. Right away from the x-rays and CT scans they could see it was enlarged! Upon closer look, they saw the blockage (which if you have, the antibiotics will do nothing for).
I would absolutley INSIST you be seen for a CT scan sooner. My blockage was almost so far gone I was almost getting a blood infection from the toxins not being filtered in my blocked kidney!
I'm trying not to scare you, I did send you a FM with all my experiences!!
ETA: where are you located? My Urology group, which I love, is located in Manhasset.

I live in NC
I'm definitely going to call back my doc tomorrow and insist that I be seen sooner than Wednesday. I said to DH, I can't believe that I still have trace amounts of white blood cells, and they're gonna give it another week to "stew"

Oooops...Yes, but with different issues. I meant more that the doctors cant figure out what the issue is. In my case they dont seem to be particularly concerned. I keep getting referred to a different specialist who then will throw a few new conditions at me. Only to refer me to yet another specialist...One thing that I have learned is that if a disease is NOT within their area of expertise a doctor wont have a clue as to what the issue is..it's very frustrating.

When we first found out she had reflux, we went weeks with fevers - even after rounds of antibiotics. It can take that long to kick the infections but. Also, when you have this condition, UTI's and kidney infections can come back.

They are beginning to think this is what I might have.
I go for a cat-scan on Wednesday and then we'll figure out what to do from there.
