I need some advice... quickly
So I've been doing some pretty seriously thinking about my RE, the IUI's, my age, better stats with other RE's, personal recommendations of NSUH, and my window to do IVF over the summer... anyway...
1. DH and I decided that even though NSUH is not covered as much as my current RE that it is the only place we know where two of our friends have gone and gotten pregnant so despite the expense I would call for a consult. The hours and location are so not convenient but so what... we want a baby.
2. Should I continue for one more cycle at current RE? I call today(first phonecall) (actually CD3 but I couldn't call yesterday). The receptionist tells me I have to come in tomorrow and it must be after 7 am... HELLO? I've been going there for 7 months and this is new... I ALWAYS have a 6:30 am appt. as I teach and must get to school by 7:20. I got VERY upset as I've missed so much work this year... 7 months and still not pregnant. They claim they don't see CD3 before 7 am. She was just NASTY. Made an appt for 7:15 tomorrow morning but I will HAVE to be there at 6:30 and hope they take me.
3. I call NSUH. Spoke to a wonderful woman on the phone and have a consult with Dr. Rosenfeld for Monday mid-day... OK, another day off but I can't believe I got an appt. that soon (Divine intervention). I have to get my records from my other RE by Friday with a signed consent form from DH who is away on business
Sorry so long but here's the dilemma? Do I even bother going to my original RE and starting another IUI round with them or should I just skip and see Dr. Rosenfeld on Monday. BTW, it will be the 6th month on Clomid and 3rd IUI... I have no faith in it.
I think I know the answer but I just wanted to run it by you girls. Again, sorry so long.
Thanks. I was crying in the phone booth in the faculty room over this.

Re: I need some advice... quickly
I'm a huge advocate of making sure your health care provider has your best interests at heart and that you are as comfortable with them personally as you are professionally, so if it were me, I'd start with NSUH.
I was in a similar situation a couple months back with my OBGYN being a complete prick and not getting back to me and I had the opportunity to go to RMA, even though they don't accept my insurance, and I jumped at the chance.
So even though I pay a little (okay a lot) more, my overall health and mental well being are better for it and that's priceless to me.
Good luck with your decision!!

Re: I need some advice... quickly
I would fofeit the original RE. NSUH will want to do a few tests on you (i transferred from RSNY to NSUH) and IMO it would be better to make the switch and forget this IUI
That aside after 6 - 7 IUIs, I suspect # 7 or 8 may not bring you the BFP
Good luck -
ETA - request your paperwork ASAP from teh original RE, NSUH took all mine, but only really used it for the blood work

Re: I need some advice... quickly
6 months on clomid is really the limit. I too, would skip the IUI this cycle and head to NSUH.
Although your insurance doesn't cover this particular clinic,....your insurance will probably pay for out of network doctors and the treatments. You may be laying out the money but probably will be reimbursed.
You will find NSUH to have much better hours then RS. Most of my appts with NSUH have been at 5:30 pm.
I have also found NSUH to be a lot different than RS when it comes to bloodwork. My RE hasn't required me to do any blood work there...(which I find weird). However, when I asked, about the hours, they said they were from 7-9 (no appt necessary) or you can go to a quest...whichever is more convenient
NSUH definitely works around your schedule....the only thing that's strictly mornings there...are the IUIs.

Re: I need some advice... quickly
Humm...I know if it was me, as upset as I would be with your current RE, I would go see them and have another IUI...and keep my appt with the new RE too. I would be worried if I skipped the IUI this month - what is THIS was "our month" you know?
ETA I saw another response that said yuo were on Clomid - which I didnt know. I would skip the Clomid and do a natural IUI with your current RE.

Re: I need some advice... quickly
Ladies,
Thank you! DH and I have decided to move on to NSUH. The way I was spoken to on the phone today just proves that my former RE's office really doesn't have their patient's best interest at heart.
When I finally got DH on the phone to tell him what happened (he's been there a few times with me) he said... "Wait is it the woman who lokks like...? Because she has a major attitude with everyone she talks to." He knows this after only two or three visits.
I've just been fed up telling them what cycle I'm on, what my meds are, I had to ask about progesterone shots and I hate the fact that I NEVER see my doctor. She has yet to do one IUI on me.
I should have moved on in January when I first got this feeling but like many a relationship sometimes you have to be proven right several times before you move on.
I should take a break from the drugs this month anyway and just monitor myself and BD.
Thanks ladies

Re: I need some advice... quickly
Theresa...I think you made a good choice. I would NOT stay after all the negative things you said about them, although a co-worker did IVF and GOT PG there after several unsuccessful IUI's. Take a break (you may get lucky), and start out at this new place and take it from there. I wish you all the best

Re: I need some advice... quickly
Theresa, I think you are making the very best decision possible for you right now. Unfortunately we feel tied-down once we start with a clinic and it is hard to make that break as you say -- kind of like that ex BF you knew would never work out but hey he is probably the perfect guy for someone else.
I am glad you are comfortable with your decsion and I hope hope hope it brings you your BFP sooner rather than later!!

Kara,
This is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Although, I think I have at least one ex-BF that wouldn't be good for anyone

Re: I need some advice... quickly
T-
You KNOW I have been telling you to make the change for a few months now. I never felt the answers you were getting were right for you at all there. I hate hate hate to see you wasting time there.
You will find NSUH very accommodating. their office hours are different, its more liek a regualr drs office, but they will work with you.
Dr. Chu asks me each time when I can come in and makes sure shes there.
also they dont do bloodwork like Michelle said. They only do a beta or if you need it progesterone. When you go, you have a sono and speak to the dr and thats it, so the appointments are very very fast.
The IUIS are also only on the weekends in the AM...the weekday ones are based around the Drs schedule.
We had a 5:30 pm IUI there....because of work.
On the weekends, the IUIS are hectic but still HALF the time of RSONY...
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im thinking and praying for you!
Also- I dont think that any more Clomid is a good idea for you anyway. You need more personalized cycle care, and I hope you get it!

Re: I need some advice... quickly
I agree, moving on is a great idea. You can always have your current RE give you a RX for day 3 bloodwork and have it done at quest. Bring the results and NSUH may even be able to do an IUI this cycle if you choose.

Re: I need some advice... quickly
I am glad you made a decision you are comfortable with. I know they have been a major problem with you, they are a very difficult office to deal with. I hope NSUH gives you your BFP and does quickly at that. Since you are going natural, they may be able to pick things up with you this month and get things moving quickly...just make sure you get your charts from your old RE. Lot's of

Re: I need some advice... quickly
I am a firm believer in going with your gut on dr. issues. You deserve to be treated with respect and care. Period. And never seeing the doctor? Well..that just shows how much your care means to the doctor.
I would stop everything and go to your new appt. Take time to think about the options they give you and figure out what works best for you.
