itchy eye

Just ONE of my eyes has been itchy on and off for a while now. For the first time, it has actually woken me up from my sleep!

It's not at all red.... and its been itchy on and off for several weeks but never turned red ever.......

Since its just one eye, what do u think it could be? allergies? dry eyes? its just so weird that its just one eye!
