Anyone saw a Medical Geneticist?
And familiar particularly with the Micro array test?

Is it a fairly "common" test? Is it sent to a "special" lab? Do you know if insurances cover for it?

It really depends on what they are testing for. Many hospitals will perform the microarrays that test for chromosomal abnormalities in-house. But if there is a specific disease or mutation they are looking for, most will be sent out. Most of these specific tests are patented by a particular company and hospitals don't have the rights to use them. Insurance coverage will vary, but sometimes if you write to the company they will give you a discount if you qualify.
