sod??
We are thinking of re-doing our backyard - the grass there now is kinda dead and all bumpy - we were thinking of getting dirt to even it out and then grass seed - what is your opinion about getting sod and do you have any idea of price??
TIA, Chris

Re: sod??
My Dad installed sod many, many , many (20 plus) years ago when they replaced our sewers in Nassau county. I remember him complaining about the price then (early 80's) so I can only imagine what it is now. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
We live near a sod farm in East Northport and I would figure that it would be expensive because of the value of the land. I think the plae is Delucia(????)

Re: sod??
if your going to do it yourself sod costs between $3-$4 a piece from Home Depot / local nursery.
Sod is instant grass - seed can be just as good, just takes about two weeks.
If you don't already have a sprinkler system, get one now before Sod or Seed!

Re: sod??
We put sod on our front lawn and it looked great. Sorry i can't remember how much it was now. BUT we decided to try seeding the back area...looks just as great! If i were you i would try the seeding first and see how you like it.

Re: sod??
We priced sod for our yard (65x160) and it was SO EXPENSIVE
We decided to have good top soil delivered and planted seed. Last year our entire yard was dirt (we had 380 yards of dirt delivered to level it out)...everything was just dirt dirt dirt.
This year - its all grass. In one year we got a really nice lawn and it cost so much less.
If I have a pic I will attach it here.. Image Attachment(s):
