Do you think us CURRENTLY CHILDLESS couples
have more privacy in our lives/marriages then our kidded counterparts? I don't just mean as far as kids running around the house, but in a broader sense like from our families and such?

Re: Do you think us CURRENTLY CHILDLESS couples
I don't know if I have more privacy b/c I am childless or b/c I insist on it, with my family and IL's. I am very private, particularly with my IL's.
I don't know if that would change if I had children.

Re: Do you think us CURRENTLY CHILDLESS couples
we are not as important since we don't have kids...so no one cares what we do...haha... ok that was my sarcastic answer...actually i would say our parents are just as involved in what we are up to...and call to see what's new in our careers and stuff...we have two dogs that my mom calls to check up on.

You laugh, but I have heard this from my MIL and my BIL.

I don't see any discernable difference between us and others in the family who do have children. I think it just depends on your individual relationship with your relatives.

Re: Do you think us CURRENTLY CHILDLESS couples
I'm not sure I'd say we have more privacy...But I feel like there is less respect for personal boundaries when couples have kids. Parents are asked all kinds of personal questions, given unsolicted advice and often harassed about their choices. Not that it doesn't happen to me, but people really go to town on those with kids.

I demand my privacy but I am positive it would be much harder to keep people away if I had kids they wanted to see. Some people really lay on the guilt.

This is true in DH'S family too. Honestly yes we have a lot of privacy way more than the others with kids.

ITA. I fel like we get away easy b/c we don't have kids. No one would dare give me unsolicited advice on my sex life, but people have asked my cousin (mommy of 3 under 4) what kinds of birth control she uses. I would knock someone out.
