Book and a drink...

So, who'd be into some sort of book club type thingy where we can have a cocktail or two as we discuss our read? Maybe we can even get creative and have the drink go with the book!!

I'd be up for that. I live in Manhattan so it would be hard to get out to LI for the actually "meetings" though...

Chat Icon I work with books written by PhDs, so I read a lot of fantasy crap on my train rides home.
Right now I am re-reading Harry Potter 6.

I am not on LI anymore, but if you post the book, I may read it too--and I am pretty much always drinking anyway. Chat Icon

Re: Book and a drink...

I'll be the snotty one and say it depends on the book. Chat Icon I love to read, but I have SO little free time (read almost none) that I only read books I really, really enjoy. If I don't like a book, I put it down as soon as it becomes boring.

When I had more free time, I'd read anything. Now, it has to be something I like (no books about lawyers, fantasy, sci-fi, romance) and something that makes me not want to put the book down. I read all day long at work, so when I read for fun I have to love it.

ETA -- Not that you h ave to plan your books around ME... I just may choose only to participate if it's a book that interests me. Chat Icon (Sorry.)

My friends used to have a bookclub and my DH would call it a drinking club where we occasionally read books Chat Icon

It made me read some great books I would've never picked up as well as some of the worst books ever that I just couldn't finish. We'd take turns hosting the meetings once a month and the host picked the book.

But are you a boob snob?

ETA- Suggestion: You could alternate trash with serieous, or take turns picking the books, and participation could vary depending on the book chosen.
