help

I feel like all I do is yell at Rudy. I have bite marks and black and blues all over my arm. He attacks me. I keep losing my temper and then I feel really bad Chat Icon

Nothing works. And its not like he has puppy teeth anymore.

How about those cops who train dogs.He can specifacally work on teaching Rudy who's boss. I know there's one here in Nassau, I'm going to try to google it right now.

Re: help

As inhumane as it sounds - try the electric collar with the remote. We used that on our dog and he's much better then before we used it.

How old is he? Chewie did that for a while too. He stopped at about 1 year old.

Re: help

awwww......I wish I knew someone that could train him. I would tell pet Smart about what he is doing to you and maybe they can suggest something

Re: help

I would have a professional dog trainer come and help you. Petsmart is great for basic training but you need someone that is familiar with unexpectable behaviors.

Good luck...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Ack Kristin, he is so cute --- I am sorry he is giving you trouble. I would ask Pet Smart if they could recommend a trainer more specific for your problem..Chat Icon

Re: help

Gus used to do the same thing...every now and again he loses his mind and does it again...stop playing with him when he gets like that...stand up, and walk out of the room, and shut the door in his face, wait 2 minutes and then come out...he'll follow you and wait outside the door, he'll begin to understand that if he behaves that way the game is over. OR put him in his cage to cool off for a minute. Gus is 103 pounds now, and he'll be a year old tomorrow, so I know what you're saying, it's almost scary when he gets nippy...but try to understand that he's not doing it to be mean to you....he's challenging you, and he's playing....

Re: help

I totally know how you feel. I could have (and prob did) write the same thing a year ago. How old is Rudy? I can tell you that Casey did that to me until about 6 months ago. She will be 2 in July. Best advice I can give is to get a trainer, get sour apple spray to put on your hands, make sure he has chew toys and keep saying NO!!

Re: help

Try this:

Put 10 pennies in a can, tape the top closed. When he is acting inappropriately and no doesn't work shake the can and say no. Also, if he is being just to wild give him a time out. Is he getting enough exercise? Is he fixed?

LOVE being a Mommy!

Re: help

I am not sure if you tried it or not - but we put some coins in a metal coffee can and that worked for a little while. We would shake it when she would try to bite and stuff.
I used to get sooooo frustrated, cause Casey did it for the longest time to me and never anyone else.
