Is it bad that I hate talking to my admin asst?

She's a nice person, she really is, but I just don't like talking to her. Whether it's about work of non work stuff.

For the work stuff-she asks questions about things she should know and it drives me crazy. And, she makes things more complicated than necessary.

For non work stuff, she gets way too personal.

Thank goodness she works from home two days a week.

I know some people like that, and they drive me nuts too. This is a main reason I can no longer be a supervisor. I just don't have the patience to be "in charge" of people who lack common sense. Which I know sounds bad, given the field I have chosen to work in, but I think it's "different" if you are the client vs. if you are the professional.

Its funny, I never clicked with a single female banker, ever. I loved working for men. The women were always sort of short with me...kept to themselves in their office, we never ever hung out together. The guys were great, threw a baby shower for me, went out afterwork all the time together.

maybe she is just uncomfortable?

She may be shy or intimidated by you. When people work for someone, they tend to be afraid of them sometimes...

I feel that way about the people I work with... I am just a private person so I don't really share unless I ma directly asked. But they talk about EVERYTHING!!!! I like hearing about them, but i feel weird butting in (esp. being the admin asst!). I also feel like I ask questions I should know... but I work in a tricky field.

I feel your pain. I just hired a new project manager who works for me. She annoys the crap out of me. She doesn't pick up on things quick enough and she is a little rough around the edges.

During her first week on the job, she told me that she needed to go home early. She had a stomach flu and wasn't feeling well. She had taken a nap in her car during her lunch break. While she was there, she had sneezed and she had "soiled" herself. She sat at her desk for 2 hours after lunch before telling me this.

i feel your pain. i had one like that and it drove me nuts. ended up firing her and hiring the best AA and i am happy to say we're friends.

I know someone looking for an admin assist job...especially one where she could work from home some days. You could hire her.
