Do you kick people off the cardio machines?
Today, my friend and I were using the precors. We signed up for them. She got on her machine at 12 but I had to wait about 7 minutes for the woman on my machine to get off. I wasn't kicking her off. Anyway, at 12:29, a woman comes up to me and informs me that she signed up for 12:30. I'm like, Okay, great. Now, I feel pressure b/c I really only want to stay on a few more minutes anyway, but feel that if I go over 12:30, she'll say something. Now, I had to wait for the person to get off for me. I wasn't pissy about it. Then a girl goes to my friend "Did you sign up for this machine?" and my friend is like "yeah." So basically the two of us were kicked off. On the sign up sheet is a note that says there is a 10 minute grace period. We were'nt even there yet for that, but still, back to my question. Do you kick people off? What's the etiquette?

No, I never do. I just sit there and stew - letting my blood boil and 5, 10, 15 minutes over there signed up time goes by..............

At my gym there's a sign that if you are a few mins late you lose it. I usually try to let them see me, but then say something a few mins after. I like my whole 1/2 hour and someone always says something to me.

my gym did away with the sign-ups for this very reason. sometimes it does $uck that every machine is taken, but you can usually find one. in the past signing up only caused awkwardness, because not everyone does the right thing.

No sign up sheet for mine either. During peak times though there is a 30 minute limit.
If I see someone on there for 45 minutes or longer I will hover. Hovering gets people nervous.
If I'm really steamed about it I'll go over to the desk and ask if I can kick someone off.

I've never kicked anyone off...I usually just find something else to do. My gym doesn't have sign up sheets (Thank God) and imposes the 30 minute limit during peak times.

Wow, I have never seen my gym crowded enough that anyone is kicked off.

Re: Do you kick people off the cardio machines?
When I used to join Lucille, I did sometimes. Thankfully, the gym I belong to now, has SO many machines and no sign up list, that its not necessary.
Lucille had a 5 minute grace period........most times, they'd see me stand there and look at me and ask "are you on here next".....and then within a minute or so, they'd get off. I hated to ask at first, but when you only have an 1/2 hour to get in as much cardio as possible, every minute counts! I always asked nicely anyway.

Re: Do you kick people off the cardio machines?
My gym isnt that crowded that anyone has to get kicked off but I was a member of Lucille Roberts years ago and I was using the treadmill....that I got on 10 minutes late because someone else was on it...so I am workingup a good sweat and this woman keeps asking me when I will be off. I told her I got on 10 minutes late because someone else was on it so I still have more time. She goes to the front desk and tells them that I wont get off. I thne have a big fight with her and the front desk chick. I was so ****** that I called and spoke with the manager the next day, cancelled my member ship and got my $$ back. I will NEVER join another big gym again! I my mind they all ****!!
