Small update..
I was at the Ped last week and asked the Doctor where I could take Ava to get evaluated for ADHD, because Schneider's was booking for October.
He said "remove all sugar from her diet and pay a lot of attention to her and she will be fine."
Really??? That's his professional advice!!! My opinion of him has now gone down to almost zero! Here is a Mom asking, no practically begging for help, and that is your solution!
A family friend is a SLP and he suggested a friend of his who is a Psychologist. I met him today and I loved him. I felt like finally somebody listened to me. I met with him alone, and next he would like to observe Ava.
He feels that based on what I told him, and from never having met her or read any of her reports, that she may be a High Functioning Autistic. I don't know if she really fits all of the criteria, but I am willing to explore anything. I just want to make life better for our entire family.

Re: Small update..
You really need an eval. I talked to people about DS around the time of his evals and without seeing DS and just my words, they were not that alarmed. Turned out DS is autistic.
How old is DD?

Ava just turned 5. From about 2 years old, we have been dealing with Sensory Issues, eating issues, pragmatic issues.
I had her evaulated by EI, and she got services for Pre-K. She got speech and OT. She finished Pre-k, gets no services and will be in a regular kindergarten next year.

We got Ei through the District for pre-k. Now that she is going into kindergarten, she no longer qualifies.
What else can I do??

Hi I am an occupational therapist and just was wondering if they gave her an entirely new evaluation to determine if she would qualify for services when she enters Kindergarten or did her preschool therapist just say at the end of her services that they are not recommending her for services next year without any testing? If they did testing, what tests did they administer?
I am just asking because I see this all the time with many kids going into kindergarten. they say they no longer qualify without doing formal testing and then unfortunately some children have difficulty with they high demand kindergarten curriculum and then they lose out on almost a full year before all the testing is completed and services are to restart.

I agree. Just because she is going to kindergarden does not mean she does not need services.
I would dig a bit more on this one and find out WHY they said she did not qualify.
I would ask for a psychological eval too.

I agree. Many times I've had kids come into K who had previous services that were discontinued, but no re-eval had been conducted. It is my understanding that as a parent, you are allowed to request testing IN WRITING and the district must comply.
As an aside, I've had a number of kids with Asbergers who have SOARED. I just *lost* one to middle school and the progress he has made is UNBELIEVABLE. He is a happy, interesting, BRIGHT, and social kid with friends. I'm going to miss him terribly.
