can dogs get sunburn???
Just wondering. My dog is a shirt haired dog and is laying on our deck like he is dead. He just LOVES to lay in the sun and would all day.
His nose gets very red and is sensitive, just wondering if they can get sunburn?

I was thinking the SAME thing about Casey's nose...it used to be black and now it faded to pink. So I feel like this summer it will be more sensitive.

I think they can, esp. on their nose.

My dog loves to sun bathe as well. I always put out water with ice and she comes in when it gets too hot for her. I have never noticed her getting a sunburn.

Pyxie is very prone to sunburn. She is a hairless, but I would tend to worry about a dog if their skin is exposed through their fur as well.

yes they can...my vet told me that I can put anything on Gus' skin that I can put on my own skin, so (when I remember, and put some on my self), I put a little on his nose where it's pink, and some on his tummy that isn't protected by fur....

Yes they can.
My Molly Malone's (see left) nose gets sunburned very easily. When we first got her we didn't know, it got burned and peeled I felt guilty for the longest time for being a bad doggy mommy. Now we watch her in the sun. She's a Golden with sensitive skin.

Yes, they can. Emma has gotten it and it is just as painful for her as it is when I get it.
