D & C results are in

I received my cytogenetics report back from the lab. My OB left a message fo rme prior to me receiving results in mail advising us to seek genetic counseling. He said DH & I should get tested. These results read like stereo instruction, in Japanese to me. I have googled some of the main words and still have no answers. It talks about "karyotype", "metaphase" & "trisomy 7" (which I don't think is good). Can anyone help me understand what I'm reading? TIA

"Karyotype" is just the test that is done to identify and evaulate the number of chromosomes, etc. (not even really sure if "test" if the right word). But basically they arrange the chromosomes by size and number and you can tell if there is an extra one or if one is missing, etc.

I'm not a doctor, but my understanding of trisomy 7 is that there were 3 copies of chromosome 7 instead of 2, which would have caused the miscarriage.

I would call your doctor to fully discuss the results.
