Macular Degeneration?
Anyone familiar with wet macular degeneration? My grandmother had to see a specialist, b/c she had bleeding in the back of her eye, which we had suspected was due to the coumadin she's on. The eye doc told her she had wet macular degeneration and was going to start therapy on her. I didn't go to the appt with her, so I didn't get a chance to ask him any questions. I'm going to call him next week.
Isn't mac d extremely common in the elderly as well?
I did do a little research online, but I wanted to hear some anecdotal experience.

Re: Macular Degeneration?
My grandmother had it too. I thought hers was diabetes related. I'll be honest, hers got pretty bad. She would cry because she couldn't see very much at all, and she had to give up cooking, knitting, etc. I think it is pretty common in the elderly.

Re: Macular Degeneration?
This usually happens to the elderly. I actually had to go to a specialist to get checked out myself, because at my regular eye exam they found a spot on the back of my eye. Apparently I am have a freaky eye with a birthmark on the back on my eyeball!
