help, maybe TMI diarrhea
so I just got back last night from a week in Dominican Republic with 11 friends and DH. Out of the 12 of us, I would say that 9 got sick at one point or another, mainly diarrhea. I have been sick since last Wednesday and it hasn't gotten any better.
How long does Traveler's diarrhea usually take to run its course? I cant eat anything, it goes right through.

Re: help, maybe TMI diarrhea
I would start on some pro-biotics and keep your diet light.
I recommend Align since it is really good on regulating the bacteria in your digestive system. It a few days you should feel the difference.
Sounds like you got some bacteria or a bacterial infection. Try the pro-biotics first and if you don't feel a difference in a day or two call the doc. If it's an infection you may need antibiotics.
Which resort did you stay in?

we stayed at the Grand Paradise Playa Dorado. Thanks for the info, can I get the pro-biotics in CVS? Is Align the pro-biotics?

Re: help, maybe TMI diarrhea
I got so sick in the Dominican this past April i almost couldn't make the flight home and went straight to my dr the next morning.
I will NEVER go back to that island again. Everyone I know who has gone there has gotten really sick. One of my friends was there last month and ended up in a Dominican hospital.
My dr just told me to take an anti diarhea med and go on the special diet of tea, toast, rice and a few other things, it actually has a name but I canr remember it.
Feel better and stay away from Dominican

Another horror story from the Dominican Republic. I can't tell you how many people I know that have gotten sick there. Hope you feel better soon!

If you've been sick for a week and it isn't getting better, please go to your doctor.

Re: help, maybe TMI diarrhea
Align is available at Walgreens possibly CVS..it's not cheap though but works great.
If after a few days you don't see an improvement go to the doc.
Please continue to drink. Try to stay hydrated with gatorade, juice if you can tolerate it and any other liquid that gives you vitamins and electrolytes.

Re: help, maybe TMI diarrhea
I was in the DR last year and game back fine. But this year When I got back from Jamaica I was like this for about 2 weeks. It is a horrible feeling. I just made sure to eat bland food and drink plenty of water. Feel better!

Did you get the probiotics?
At this point I would call the doc. It's been too long.

i did. its odd, I go back and forth between semi-normal and then back to the big D. I know TMI.
I will see how I am the rest of the day and then call. I have no other ailments, feel fine, not sick at all, no fever. Its just annoying at this point
