"Tell me some of your strengths.. and your weaknesses"

Please don't move

DH has an interview tomorrow. We are going over interview questions, and this one is really tricky. We have all his "strengths" ready (diligent, works well indep or with a team, always looking for ways to improve) but we are having difficulty thinking of a weakness .. in the past he said that he is a perfectionist but we were looking for a better answer. What is a good thing to say, that doesn't actually sound like it is a bad thing?



PS- it's for a Design job

That's my least favorite question. Tell him to answer it as if he weren't going for an interview and then tweak the answer to be appropriate. For example, one of my weaknesses in life is that I try to please everyone all the time and say yes to everything, leaving me spread too thin. I could rework that in a way that would be appropriate (I'd do that right now, but I have dinner on the stove and it would take to long ) HTH

The trick is to always give something you're working to improve, and your strategy for improvement in that area. Ie., I feel like I can be stronger in the area of xyz, so I've begun taking classes to enhance my skills in that area.

I always say I am a terrible speller so I always use spell check

It's true and it's not too bad of a weakness

one of *my* weaknesses, and I often used it for interviews, was that I was a little too organized. In that, if I messed something up, instead of crossing it out or fixing it in an 'not so neat' way, I would start over and do it again... which can be time consuming. So while, it's a weakness, it shows I care about the quality of work I put forth.
