Removing a tatoo?
Has anyone had a tatoo removed? Did it hurt? Where did you get it done and was is expensive?
I have a tatoo that I love... but I am afraid of it stretching when I have a baby (someday) since it is on my lower belly/upper hip.

Maybe they do?? I don't know, I am just wondering right now. I am not planning on having kids for a few years anyway, but I was thinking if it got stretched or warped I would want it gone.

Re: Removing a tatoo?
I would sooner get it redone that get it removed! My friend got one removed on her finger. It cost her almost a grand (compared to 100 getting it done) and over a year in treatments. And she said it hurt a thousand times more than getting it.

Re: Removing a tatoo?
During laser tattoo removal, the laser is used to selectively target and destroy the tattoo without damaging the surrounding tissue, which greatly decreases scarring. Lasers have differing wavelengths and pulse durations, and different laser beams are absorbed by specific colors, allowing physicians to choose the precise combination of lasers for the depth and color of a particular tattoo as well as for multi-colored tattoos. After treatment the skin is more uniform and natural in appearance, although some changes in skin texture and color are unavoidable.
Tattoo Removal Costs: The national average of 1999 doctor fees for laser tattoo removal was $2,833 (Source: The American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery). Regional averages: New England states: $2,240; middle Atlantic states: $2,158; north central states: $2,430; south central states: $2,234; and mountain/Pacific states: $2,649. These are physician fees only, and do not include related expenses.
I found this info by doing a search on google

Re: Removing a tatoo?
I have several tatoos. Since they are all full of color, laser removal is not an option for me. They are also too big to be cut out or sand down (so to speak). So Rejuvi paste is the only way I can get rid of it. You can find info on it online. But its $750 per session and they only do a small area at a time. Ive had 2 sessions on one tattoo and have to have at least 2-3 more. It hurts like hell and I couldnt walk on the leg the next day (it was on my ankle). I tell anyonw who is thinking about getting a tattoo NOT to do it...
I just regreat getting most of mine...

Re: Removing a tatoo?
I know that Moe recently posted this question on on either TTC or the Pregnancy board..
I am pretty sure most of the ladies who had tattoos around their tummy area, and then got PG , had no problems with them stretching or looking strange after they had delivered and their bellys went back to normal.
I will try to find the thread for you
Here is the Tattoo/Preggo link

Oh thats good to know! I am not planning on starting to TTC for about 2-3 (closer to 3) years, and then I hope to have a few, so it is going to be like 10 years from now IF I even have to get it removed... so I don't know why I even bothered to ask now... who knows, there might be different removal methods by the time I might need them! The tattoo is very small, like the size of a 1/2 dollar.
