Re: NYC: Letter of Resignation

Dear Administrator,

Found a better job in a school system that pays better/treats me well/is not run by fools like the DOE. Peace.

Re: NYC: Letter of Resignation

i dont know much about this but i think you can take a leave of absense for several yrs. it may be something you want to consider in case this other job doesnt work out. if you resign i;ve heard you can never go back to NYC

you have 5 years to rescind your resignation. They wont let you take a leave if you have another position.

I was told 5.. and it's been 2 and I haven't moved over my TDA yet as I wanted to wait for tenure. That you have to move within 7 I believe.

Just wanted to share whay I have learned from the UFT so far....

I asked about a child care leave but you cannot have another job while doing that (I figured as much, but wanted to give it a shot)

There is another leave of absence that is good for one year and you can have another job and it holds a place in the city...BUT you need to write a statement and then have that approved...doubt they'd approve me....so I guess I'm going to take the leap.....soooo nerveracking.....

short and sweet (although I loved the first example!)

TWIMC:

Please accept this letter as my notice of resignation, effective immediately.

This was not an easy decision to make. I am grateful for the rewarding experience I've had with the DOE. After much consideration, though, I have accepted a position with another district.

Sincerely,
