Re: a vent about respect.
I'm sorry to hear that - especially that you're sick!
Gosh, i would NEVER want to loop. I know some people love it, but I wouldn't because of the management issue. Especially as a second year teacher! I can't imagine looping after my only real experience with management was with the same kids in my first year! Ugh.
I really don't have much advice. I just wanted to offer my hugs to you. Feel better and just mae sure you stay consistant. Start calling home if behavior persists.
Good luck!!!

What was the consequence for the kid who grabbed the fan? I hope you didn't let him get away with it. I would have flipped out on his little azz.

Honestly 'looping' has its pros and cons........ My class is generally great! (except for this stupid incident ) ....... and it really eliminates the headache over the summer wondering what kind of class you will have in the fall.......
But yea, following the kids I had for my first year is definitely a challenge! There were obviously things I did in my first year that I vowed to change for future years, but my kids already know me and already so stuck in their routines.........
I think having the same class over again would be much better for an experienced teacher who isn't still learning from their mistakes......... Yet, the benefit is I get to see them grow and I have a great bond with them. (although, as u can see from my post, my bond with them might be TOO good since they clearly feel very comfortable )

OMG...... as embarrassing as this is to admit...... I spoke to him firmly about it saying what an incredibly rude thing that was to do.. and let it go WHY!??!? I have no idea........... thinking back I don't know why I didn't flip out!!
I don't know if this is going to make sense...... and some people who have had a temper in their rooms might rolls their eyes at this....... but... I feel like I don't KNOW HOW to get THAT angry in my room! Situations will happen and I just don't know how to react!
I tend to be very mellow at work..... I'm the teacher who is known for having the best behaved class but doesn't have to yell to keep them that way! I just didn't know how to react........ and combine that with the fact that it was late on a friday afternoon before a 3 day weekend..... I just wanted to get out.............
Stupid, I know. I didn't go in today and tomorrow is questionable since I still have a fever..... but when I do go back I plan on taking him aside and talking to him.
