Is there a prayer/mantra/saying to break bad luck?

DH,DS, and I are just having bad luck these last 2 weeks. It is like we are under a black cloud. Is there any prayer/saying/mantra I can say to break it?!?!?! My grandmother used to say this prayer in Sicilian anytime we were having a rough time and if she yawned during it, it meant that we were being overlooked. It always seemed to work. However, she said that she could only teach it to us on Christmas. Unfortunately, she passed away before teaching it to us. I know - sounds crazy. I am wondering if anyone knows of anything - I think I am going to have a nervous breakdown if I something else goes wrong!!!

I don't know it either - no one ever got the chance to teach it to me.

When I feel like that - I do a novena. Not sure if you are religious or not but it seems to help me.

When I went to Italy I tried to find someone to lift it for me, but everyone kind of laughed at me Chat Icon

Chat Icon i hope your luck turns!

ETA: I found this online and it is similar to what I know - I just dont know if you are supposed to do it if it was not passed down to you:

Strega Spell to Cure the Evil Eye
According to Raven Grimassi, expert on Stregheria (Italian witchcraft) and author of Ways of the Strega (Llewellyn Publications, 1997), a person may suddenly feel sick or exhausted because of receiving Malocchio.

To test whether or not this is the case, put three drops of olive oil, one on top of the other in a bowl of water. If they stay together, it is not Malocchio. If they separate or become smeared, it is.

To break the spell, insert the tip of a needle into the eye of another needle while chanting, “Occhi e contro e perticelli agli occhi, crepa la invida e schiattono gli occhi,” which means “Eyes against eyes and the holes of the eyes, envy cracks and eyes burst.” Drop the needles on top of the oil and sprinkle three pinches of salt into the water. Jab scissors into the water through the oil three times. Cut the air above the bowl thrice. The spell is broken.

Tilde, you almost made me cry and laugh at the same time reading this!!! It reminded me of my grandmother and her total belief in malocchio!!! In fact, I always have red ribbon tied around my bra strap b/c red is supposed to "block" malocchio. I am going to try this tonight. My DH is going to think I am crazy, but I don't care. Thanks so much!! I will let you know if it works!

Re: Is there a prayer/mantra/saying to break bad luck?

I can only add the St. Francis Prayer, it's my "anchor" prayer and has helped me through many difficulties:

Pointers for Prayer : Sometimes Christians are called to turn the world upside down. To bring the exact opposite of what we find in our world. St. Francis' prayer is a bold one, asking for strength to give of ourselves to meet the needs of others. He recognises that it "is in giving that we receive", that as we give of ourselves, we receive the peace and blessing of our risen Lord Jesus. We cannot earn eternal life, but that we are pardoned from the sins that block our claim on it.
Think about the situations that you are involved in that require peace, consolation, hope, light and joy. Then, if you're bold enough, pray the prayer!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

I have a St. Anne medallion that I keep in my wallet - my nonna tried to pin it to my bra, but it was too big and bulky!! Believe me, it was attempted!
