How did everyone else's PD day go today?
OK I'll be the first to say it........... I called DH during the lunch break in TEARS!
Between the CEP goals, and differentiated instruction that needs to be included in every lesson...... and all lessons must be typed up with every specific detail- aim, objective, mini lesson, group work, DI (including names of kids in each group, data used to group them, evidence of the data), reflection.. all for every subject....... and now I just found out we will have visitors coming around soon to check for these things.....
I told DH I'm ready to just quit But, I know that's not option Anyone else feel TOTALLY overwhelmed?!!!?!? I HATE PD days, I would so much rather be with the kids!
ETA: Just to add to the drama that is my post, I just have to add that in addition to these lesson plans, our portfolios have to be all up to date, assessments binders with up to date pre and post tests, conference forms for each student - (for reading, writing, and math) .... and then we have to have pretty and up to date charts hanging up around the room... OH and I can't forget about updating my bulletin boards each month... and those SMART goals...................... Seriously, I am just ready to from all the stress!!

I agree, or make it a wine/whine night
Honestly today is the first day I really felt like I was hitting a wall...... but then relaxed for a while when I came home and thought about it with a fresh head..... and honestly, the school stress is NOT worth it! I wanna buy a house and have a baby! THOSE are the things worth my energy....... Of course I must do my job, it's just not worth stressing over!

Oh, you DEFINITELY could. There are some challenges, but in the end, it's so worth it. I hope you do end up with your own class someday. I think you have what it takes to be great.

Re: How did everyone else's PD day go today?
I LOVE the whine/wine idea
I may seriously steal it and use it when I plan the next teacher gtg on here !!!!
for example: Teacher GTG - Whine over a glass of wine or tawk over a cup of cawfee (I could have said "cough over a cup of coffee", but with all this flu going around, dont think that would go over too well

No, I think these days it's best to leave the cough jokes to a minimum

Re: How did everyone else's PD day go today?
My principal was awesome today. She actually gave us the entire morning or afternoon (we did shifts) to work in the computer labs on our differentiated skills analysis. We were so grateful to have that time. The other 1/2 of the day we were in departments creating differentiated lessons in small groups. It was actually very relaxing, sort of the calm before the storm: HS progress report cards haven't been released yet and Quality Review.

Re: How did everyone else's PD day go today?
Ours was terrible! We were offered an opportunity to attend a workshop on public speaking (an area that is weak in instruction at my school) I was all excited and it was terrible! It was like being stuck in an informercial! It was 6 hrs of my life I would like to get back!
